Edinburgh Irish Dance Academy

EIDA was established by two sisters, Nathalie and Daniella, with a passion for Irish dancing and fitness to provide Irish dancing classes in Edinburgh and the Lothians for anyone with an interest from the age of three upwards.

The dance school helps continue the tradition of Irish dancing, which requires a huge amount of fitness and stamina and helps keep those involved fit and healthy. Being part of the academy also has fantastic social benefits for the dancers and families involved.

The teachers, who are working parents and run the academy in their spare time, have instilled a real sense of community and supportive environment within the dance school. They work tirelessly to support the dancers in their ambitions and goals to learn and showcase their skills through taking part in competitions (Feis) across Scotland.

In March 2024, the dance school took part in the World Irish Dance Championships in Glasgow, a premier event in the Irish dancing competition calendar providing a fantastic opportunity for the dancers to display their talent and further build their confidence and camaraderie as a team in an international competition.

A key aspect of the competition criteria is presentation; therefore, it was important that the girls were dressed uniformly in appropriate competition attire. The funding from Baxters Giving Programme was used to help cover some of the cost of purchasing competition outfits for those taking part and to ensure there were no financial barriers for those involved.

“Taking part in the World Irish Dancing Championships is an incredible experience for our any Irish dancer but there is also significant expense involved in participating. “We are so grateful for the donation from Baxters Giving Programme, which helped towards the purchase of outfits and removed some of the cost burden involved for the families of the girls taking part.”
